Growing up in the 80s, I remember Nancy Reagan’s campaign to keep us off drugs.
The slogan was, let’s say it together…
“JUST SAY NO.”
Catchy, right? Easy to remember, as we’re demonstrating here. Great for putting on a button.
But I do wonder how practical it was. Thinking back, I don’t remember any tactics they gave us for navigating HOW to say no, in spite of desires or peer pressure or habits.
Learning how to say no has been a lifelong adventure for me.
No, I can’t remember even having an opportunity to say no to drugs. Whew! But saying no to people I like…that is a huge challenge!
The Challenge of Saying “No”
As a life-long people pleaser, I’ve had to equip myself with some strategies (and even scripts sometimes!) to say no.
So, when I sat down with Holly Fisher of Fisher Creative Marketing last week, I was delighted to realize I’m not the only one who struggles with saying no, especially to clients we love.
Holly and I talked about niching our service offerings so that we’re doing the things
a#1 – we are excited to do
and
b#2 – we’re exceptionally equipped to accomplish.
Holly shared a couple of strategies for gracefully saying no to anything else in your business, and she encourages everyone to niche at your own pace. π
And at the end of our conversation, you’ll hear us discuss how we’re marketing our own businesses these days.

If you want to do less in your business in 2023 (while making more $$$), but you need some practical strategies beyond a “just say no” campaign, you’ll love hearing from Holly in this interview.
Let’s make 2023 the year where we grow more profits in our businesses, so we can do more life!
p.s. Happy New Year!
